What You Need to Get Started

When beginning the process of water purification with P&G sachets, you must have the following items. Keep in mind that the water will need to be strained.

  • P&G Purifier of Water Sachets
  • 10 L of Water
  • 2 Containers
  • Cotton Cloth

How to Use P&G For Water Purification

  1. Pour one packet into 10 litres of water.

With the unfiltered water in a container, pour a single packet of the P&G water purifier powder directly into the contaminated water. The P&G Purifier of Water is segmented into multiple packets within a single box. Carefully using a single sachet for 10 litres of water is ideal, and also allows additional pouches for future use.

Ensure that the 10 litres of water are in a singular container that has an opening. The container and water will need to be strained later; it is essential to be able to transfer this water from one container to the next.

  1. Stir for 5 minutes until the water becomes clear.

After pouring the contents of the sachet into your water container, stir the powder for five minutes until dissolved within the water. While stirring, the water should start to become clear. Through this process, the P&G Purifier of Water is already separating sediment from the water.

  1. Let the water settle for 5 minutes.

Once stirring is completed, let the water settle for five minutes. During these five minutes keep the water within its original container and wait to see the P&G Water Purifier continue its cleaning of the water. When the five minutes are up, there should be a clear separation of the water and the sediment that contaminated it settled at the bottom of the container.

Do not drink or use this water yet. The purification is not complete.

  1. Filter through a cotton cloth.

Using a clean cotton cloth, cover the opening of the water container and strain the water through to a second container. The cloth acts as a barrier, filtering out the sediment that the P&G packets have separated from the water. As such, through this process, the cloth will soak up some of the water, but it will filter through to the second container.

  1. Let it sit for 20 minutes and you’ll have safer drinking water.

After the filtering, you must let the water sit for 20 minutes. Water will be clear and free from the sediment. Once these 20 minutes have passed, the water will have completed its purification process through the P&G sachets.
